The blue n.34 of the WTA ranking was eliminated with a double 6-2 6-2 by the American Jessica Pegula (# 26) who had just beaten in Canada. Also eliminated Jasmine Paolini (n.101) who after being promoted from qualifying lost 6-3 6-2 to the Russian Veronika Kudermetova (n.32).
