Conmebol (South American Football Confederation) announced this Tuesday (6.Jul.2021) that it has decided to donate to Brazil 20 thousand doses of vaccines against covid-19. They will be CoronaVac immunization products, developed by the Butantan Institute in partnership with Chinese pharmaceutical Sinovac.
In release published on the website, the confederation stated that the vaccines will be shipped in the coming days.
“With this gesture of solidarity with the Brazilian people, Conmebol seeks to recognize the country that hosts the Copa America 2021, whose final is scheduled for Saturday, July 10th”, says the statement.

On June 28, 2021, the Ministry of Health confirmed that the number of covid-19 cases among people who are working on the Copa América in Brazil had risen to 198.
