The pandemic continues to rage around the world, which is why Chevrolet has decided to postpone the market launch of the new Corvette Z06. However, this does not mean that the US brand has abandoned the development of its sports car: recently a prototype of the car was pinched in a partially camouflage guise on the iconic track of the Nürburgring. However, it must be said that the camouflage was less than that of previous sightings, which allowed us to spot some more details.
The body modifications compared to the Corvette Stingray are different, the design of the new Z06 being inspired by the racing car C8.R. An easily deducible look from the new front bumper with one significantly more prominent splitter and enlarged air intakes. The profile of the car is instead characterized by new five-spoke wheels and wider fenders with side intakes that give the new Corvette Z06 a more muscular appearance. At the rear, a fixed rear wing and a new bumper stand out, as well as four centrally mounted exhaust pipes exactly as in the previous generation. To favor a substantial reduction in weight, most of the aerodynamic components could be made carbon fiber. It is possible that the new Corvette Z06 is offered in two different versions.
According to the latest rumors reported by Carscoops, an engine will push the sports car of the US brand 5.5-liter V8 centrally mounted, which will be able to unleash 617 hp of overall power and 651 Nm of maximum torque. We are talking about specifications that will allow the new Corvette Z06 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 3 seconds flat, and to reach a maximum speed of about 300 km / h. The debut of the car is expected by the end of next autumn.
