The Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Miami and the Office of Dominicans in el Exterior (Miami Index), held a lunch at the Dominican restaurant Yarumba, on the occasion of the celebration of “Mothers Day” in the Dominican Republic.

The Consul General Fernández, Jacobo Fernández,  expressed that the celebration of Mother’s Day, the last Sunday in May, is a Dominican tradition that began in 1926, inspired and sponsored by Doña Trina de Moya, wife of President Horacio Vásquez, and also by educator Ercilia Pepín.

Likewise, he added that “On behalf of the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader Corona, the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Miami, Index Miami and myself, I congratulate all mothers, especially those Dominican women, for their dedication, their love, their ability to work and their tireless fighting spirit for their children and family.”

Vice Minister de la Mota highlighted The foreign policy guidelines outlined by President Abinader and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, whose priority is proximity to Dominicans who live outside their country.

Finally, Richard Montilla, in charge of Index Miami, presented to the team that makes up said office, and Soledad Cruz, in charge of Community Affairs of the same, thanked the presence of all the mothers and the great reception that the call for lunch had. In that sense, he expressed that we should treat mothers with the respect they deserve, give women the equality they deserve and all the support they deserve
