A few days after the return to the track of the Formula 1 championship after the well-deserved summer break, the eve of the Belgian Grand Prix is today experiencing a great news: for the first time in the history of this sport, the establishment of a prize intended for the leading driver of the greatest number of overtaking completed during the season.
The 2021 World Cup, therefore, will be the first to provide for the assignment of this recognition, which was presented under the name of Crypto.com Overtake Award. With the establishment of this trophy, the driver currently at the top of the standings was also named – the four-time world champion. Sebastian Vettel, which at the moment boasts the highest number of overtakes.
Among the major innovations, new television graphics will also be introduced during the grand prix, with the addition of data in real time which will indicate all the potential overtaking possibilities in favor of a particular driver, together with the progress made by the latter during the GP. All these features, which will make their debut right from the Belgian Grand Prix, strengthen the collaboration relationship between Formula 1 and Crypto.com, the latter already Global and Title Partner of the two Sprint Race which will be held this year in Monza and Brazil, together with the one already archived at Silverstone.
A combination also highlighted by Steve Kalifowitz, marketing director of the cryptocurrency trading site: “We are extremely honored to announce the first trophy of this kind in Formula 1 – commented the US manager – our commitment is to create winning opportunities, and I believe there is no better reality than the Crypto.com Overtake Award. This award allows our values to shine through the celebration of moments when pilots exhibit their ability to move forward. This season has already seen a lot of extraordinary overtaking, and I can’t wait to see who will be this year’s champion ”.
