About 3 thousand families do not have their own house in Los Lagos, Los Ríos region. The mayor of the commune, Aldo Retamal, recognized that it is a very high deficit, and that according to calculations, it would be close to 50% of the population.
Approximately 3,000 families in the commune of Los Lagos -Los Ríos region- do not have their own home. In other words, close to 50% of the community population.
The Los Lagos community has a very high housing deficit, according to its mayor, Aldo Retamal.
The community chief mentioned that Los Lagos today has 20,000 inhabitants and the Social Registry of Homes identified some 3,000 families who rent, live with relatives or in irregular settlements.

If these 3,000 families are multiplied by 3.5, corresponding to the average number of inhabitants per home, it means that approximately 10,000 people do not have their own home. In other words, close to 50%.
Of the 3,000 families that do not have their own home, only 1,000 are organized in various housing committees. This was confirmed by Aldo Retamal.
According to Retamal, a community table was recently created that brings together all the formally established housing committees, so that they work together.
This table seeks to avoid competition between them, which often made them enemies, despite the fact that they all seek the same objective.
