Some are already feeling, but the heat spike is expected in France this weekend, with temperatures expected to exceed the bar of 40° in the South-West. Courage, it will be necessary to resist !
According to Météo France, Friday July 31 could well be the hottest day of this summer 2020, 37° or 38° (in the shade) from north to south, locally even more hot. However, one cannot, a priori, not to speak of a heat wave : the episode should be brief and the night temperature remains around 20°.
Staying hydrated and cool rooms
It does not mean that we will have to take. The first rule will be to stay hydrated by drinking water regularly in small sips to refresh the nape of the neck regularly in passing from the cold water, showering several times a day and of course take the maximum advantage of the sea or the swimming pool if it is possible. Not to make too many efforts is also a condition sine qua non of the resistance to a high heat.
More generally think first of all to ventilate your house (or caravan or mobil-home) at night and get up early enough to close shutters and curtains at the first sign of heat.
In the absence of air conditioning or fan, you can also try to refresh the pieces by placing the wet cloth-type towel for the toilet, in the tilt of the windows.
And all that with the mask !
Additional problem this year, the mask-wearing compulsory is associated with the peak of heat. It was a thought particularly for the waiters in the cafés and restaurants, and in general all the traders obliged to wear it constantly.
A few tips can help you survive in your equipment, starting with color and material if you have chosen masks fabric : would prefer the cotton and clear. The surgical mask remains, however, recommended when it is hot.
It must always cover your face from the nose to the chin (a mask worn only on the palate does not offer sufficient protection against the coronavirus), but a tip to be more comfortable is to close the mouth and breathe through the nose. This will generate less heat and moisture inside the mask.
Finally, change your mask as soon as it is wet. At this stage, it is of no use against the coronavirus.
