The Real Madrid striker suffered an injury while training, so he will not be able to participate in the World Cup.

An emotional message was published by Karim Benzema after announcing that he will not be able to participate in the World Cup in Qatar due to to an injury.
The French Football Federation published a statement on Saturday explaining that Benzema was left out of the country’s roster for the World Cup. According to the information provided, the Real Madrid goalscorer suffered an injury to the rectus femoris in his left leg, for which reason he will not be able to be physically fit to participate in the World Cup.

The French soccer player used his Instagram account to refer to the unfortunate event. “In my life I have never given up, but tonight I have to think about the team, as I have always done,” wrote the player.
“Reason tells me that I must give my place to someone who can lead our group to achieve a good World Cup. Thank you all for your messages of support,” the message ended.
The post was quickly filled with messages of support. The recovery period for Benzema‘s injury is estimated to be three weeks.
