New York
Hours after the occurrence in the American capital, police officers from New York (NYPD), in the United States, on Thursday evacuated part of one of the main tourist attractions in the city, Time Square, due to the location of a suspicious package.
“At 1:00 pm local time (2:00 pm Brasília), the traffic of vehicles and pedestrians in the area, located in the center of New York, where a large number of agents operated, was interrupted.
“Due to a police investigation, please avoid the area from West 45th Street on Broadway to Seventh Avenue in Manhattan. We will continue to inform you,” the NYPD posted on Twitter.
According to local television station ABC 7, a person threw a metal object at a seating area near the red stairs where theater tickets are sold.
Because of this, two blocks were evacuated, so that it would be possible to investigate what was happening and ensure that there was no danger.
