The director general of the Dominican Institute for Quality (INDOCAL), Lorenzo Ram  announced the approval by the Dominican Council for Quality (CODOCA) of the Metrological Technical Regulation for the Batch Inspection Procedure for Electricity Meters by Sampling, in order to guarantee reliability of the measurements of said instruments for the protection of the consumer.

The purpose of this inspection is to verify metrologically that the batches of new meters entering the Dominican Republic meet the quality standards established for daily use and that, in turn, they correspond to the  meter model previously approved by Indocal, thus constituting double check.

 ¨The inspection will have a direct impact on consumers to the extent that  will guarantee the reliability and transparency in the use of energy meters¨ Lorenzo Ramírez, director of Indocal.

The request for the meter batch inspection service be carried out by the companies that carry out the distribution and commercialization activities, and the concessionaire companies of an isolated system, that acquire new meters; this service will be requested before INDOCAL, the authority responsible for the inspection process

Ramírez offered These statements were made when inaugurating the First INDOCAL Metrology Museum, on the occasion of World Metrology Day this May 20; an exhibition on the sciences of measurements applied in daily life in the fields of health, industrial processes, commercial transactions, among others.

The Museum of Metrology will until this Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, free of charge, at the Indocal headquarters.
