The Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Museums announced the celebration of the “Long Night of the Museums 2022”, one of the most anticipated events by the Dominican population, which will will take place on Saturday, June 25 and that will incorporate to Greater Santo Domingo and other provinces of the country, with free admission.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Culture, Milagros Germán, during the meeting-conversation with the national museum community, which, with the theme “The power of museums”, was held in Mexico City. Meeting with the museum sector

The announcement of the celebration of the “Long Night of the Museums” was done in the framework of a meeting with the national museum community that was headed by Minister Milagros Germán, accompanied by the General Director of Museums, Carlos Andújar.

Said meeting It took place with the purpose of strengthening ties and developing initiatives aimed at revaluing the Dominican cultural heritage, particularly that which is preserved and exhibited by public, semi-private and private museums.

In the conclave, Germán declared that for 45 years the International Council of Museums (ICOM, for its acronym in English) celebrates every May 18 the International Day of Museums, whose objective is to highlight the importance of museums for the cultural development.

Likewise, he assured that the museum sector at a global level must achieve three major objectives so that, throughout the world, these spaces achieve, through cultural exchange, peace between peoples. It is about sustainability, innovation in digitization and accessibility.
