Hethel’s definitive farewell to internal combustion engines takes the name and forms of Lotus Emira, the latest traditionally propelled car to join the British sports brand’s range. It changes the look and dimensions compared to the all-pepper compact models of the past, without however completely abandoning the philosophy that has characterized Lotus cars throughout history. The official preview will be at Goodwood for the Festival of Speed while the first deliveries will begin in the spring of 2022. The price list will start from a figure of less than 60,000 pounds, about 72,000 euros.

12 years after the debut of the last unpublished model, Lotus once again chooses the classic two-seater configuration with a mid-engined engine, with the Emira that nevertheless grows in shape compared to the cars of the past, reaching a length of 4.41 meters, 2 , 57 in step, 1.89 in width and 1.22 in height. Developed on the new Sport Car Architecture platform, the new Hethel sports car also boasts an important load capacity, with 208 liters behind the seats and 151 liters in the rear compartment.

Two solutions are proposed in the range of engines. The 3.5-liter V6 engine of Toyota origin capable of delivering 400 hp, combined with manual or automatic transmission. The performances in this case speak of a sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 290 km / h. Alternatively, you can choose the 360 hp 2.0 turbo four-cylinder supplied by AMG combined with the dual-clutch automatic transmission. The new Lotus Emira is fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport tires as standard, but with the optional Lotus Drivers Pack you can choose the semi-slick Michelin Sport Cup 2.
