Joe Musgrove pitched in the first inning. Manny Machado went seven scoreless innings on four hits to remain undefeated. He homered and the San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Saturday.
Jurickson Profar had two hits as the Padres extended their winning streak to three. They have won five of six games.
Wilmer Flores batted. a home run for the Giants, who lost their third straight game after winning eight of 10.

Taylor Rogers worked hard. the ninth, led off by Austin Slater’s single, before recording his 16th save in 17 chances.
The Giants’ best chance to score off Musgrove came in the 9th inning. in the sixth with runners on first and second and one out after Tommy La Stella’s double and Mike Yastrzemski’s walk. Musgrove took on a double play groundout by Darin Ruf to end the inning.
Carlos Rodón struck out; to six and had one walk in six five-hit innings.

For the Giants, Venezuelans Flores 4-1 with a run scored and an RBI, Thairo Estrada 4-0. The Mexican Luis González 3-0.
