On Sunday, May 29, Colombians will go to the polls for the first round of the presidential elections, to guarantee the tranquility of the elections in the capital of Antioquia, the following restrictions and measures were announced.

The Medellín municipal administration advanced the Democracy Plan to guarantee security in the 223 polling stations, for which the Metropolitan Police ordered the patrolling of 2,022 uniformed throughout the capital of Antioquia.
General Javier Josué Martín, commander of the Metropolitan Police, also sent a message of calm on election day: “Counting the police officers who will be on surveillance, intelligence services and other activities, we have 3,800 men to cover the territory. The most important thing is to guarantee the coverage of the polling stations and we are prepared.”
Likewise, he announced that public demonstrations, political or campaign activities will be restricted until Monday. All types of publicity and proselytizing around the polling stations are also prohibited.
Dry law
Following the guidelines of the national government, after attending to the requests of soccer fans and the Asobares guild , in the capital of Antioquia the dry law will begin on Saturday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. m. and will be valid until 12:00 noon on holiday Monday.
Metro
From the administration of the Medellín Metro system they announced that as is traditional, lines A and B, as well as the tram and the Metrocable lines will work free for people to go out and vote.
It is worth clarifying that Medellin residents will be able to enjoy this benefit only until 5:00 pm on Sunday, one hour after the polls close.
Cycloway and scenarios sports
The municipal administration announced that the bike lane and other sports venues will be suspended on Sunday May 29 and Monday, May 30.
The Medellin Sports and Recreation Institute (Inder) announced that Those days the sections of the bike lane located in the Atanasio Girardot stadium, Avenida del Río, Poblado and Cerro El Volador will not be available. Nor will the usual closures be carried out on the streets of the neighborhoods where this sports activity takes place on weekends.
“Normally in the bike paths we are in an inter-institutional articulation, for example the Secretariat of Security and Coexistence and Mobility. Due to the juncture of the elections, many of the police officers, many of the traffic agents, will be depending on this logistics, which makes it impossible for us to provide the service, care for citizens, care for traffic on bike lanes of the city”, explained the director of Inder Medellín, Cristian Sánchez.
Other scenarios that will have their services suspended are the South American Bowling, the Belén Sports Unit, the aquatic complex of the Atanasio Girardot Sports Unit and the twelve neighborhood swimming pools. These spaces, with the exception of the first, will be back in operation on Monday, May 30.
It is worth remembering that the communal pools are located in: San Blas, Tercentenario, Colgate Palmolive (Castilla), October Twelve, Floresta, Robledo Territory, La Ladera, La Asomadera, Alcázares, Belén, UVA Nuevo Occidente and San Cristóbal.
