Microsoft unveils finally the price and the characteristics of the Surface Duo. If the device has undeniable assets in terms of productivity, it has a technical data sheet-light enough so that the price is high.

After having abandoned Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft launches Android smartphones. The end of 2019, the firm of Redmond has introduced the Surface Duo, a smartphone with two screens that uses the Google operating system.
At the time, Microsoft had just introduced the design and its benefits, and indicated that the device would come out this year. And today, we finally know when it will be marketed. In fact, in a blog post, Microsoft announced the availability of the Surface Duo from the 10th of September, for a price that will begin at 1 399 dollars in the United States. For the moment, we do not know the price and date of availability to Europe.
Unlike other manufacturers, Microsoft does not spread too much on the technical data sheet in its presentation and prefer to emphasize the advantages in terms of productivity. Thanks to its two screens, the Surface Duo is a device very interesting for the multi-tasking on mobile. It also integrates perfectly with the suite of Microsoft productivity, while allowing the user access to the applications the Android ecosystem.
And although this device runs Android, it will be possible to start a complete Windows experience with virtualization. In addition, the Surface Duo should take advantage of all the features sync between Android and Windows 10 via the application Your Phone, or Your Phone.
A technical data sheet average ?
However, if the Surface Duo has undeniable assets in terms of productivity, it has a technical data sheet, relatively modest compared to other models that are in the same price range. The device uses a processor Snapdragon 855, which has been designed for mobile high-end 2019. Smartphones such as the OnePlus 8 Pro or Mi Pro 10 of Xiaomi uses a more modern processor : the Snapdragon 865.
This processor is accompanied by a RAM memory of 6 Gb and 128 or 256 Gb of storage. Otherwise, the Surface Duo only supports the 4G. Both screens are AMOLED, have diagonal 5.6 inch display and a resolution of 1800×1350 (4:3). They are protected by glass Gorilla Glass. When the Surface Duo is opened, the two screens form a of 8.1 inches.
There are two batteries that allow you to have a capacity of 3 577 mAh battery, and which can be charged using the charger 18W provided with the device. The battery life is estimated at 15 hours of video playback. And the camera on the Surface Duo is a sensor of 11 megapixels (11MP, f/2.0, 1.0 µm). Microsoft will pre-install its applications, as well as those of Google, on this smartphone.
