Asteroid space shield: NASA will launch a probe called DART in 2022. Italy also participates in the project
The possibility of an asteroid hitting the Earth as in the best disaster movies is quite remote but not zero. For this reason, NASA is building a space shield against these celestial bodies to prevent the possibility of an impact. The program called DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) does not foresee the destruction of the asteroid but to move its trajectory just enough to make it harmless.
