It is the fourth consecutive day that the Russian capital registers more than 3,000 daily infections of covid-19.
The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobianin, described this week as stable the situation with the coronavirus in the city, although he stressed that the number of new infections continues to be high.
For this reason, the authority called not to lower our guard against the virus, to comply with health regulations and to be vaccinated.
This Sunday, Sobianin again commented on the increase in cases in Moscow which he related to the May holidays at the beginning of the month that lasted for ten days.
“After the May festivities there was a rebound in cases and hospitalizations, because many citizens spent almost 10 days in their homes and country houses without going to the polyclinics and hospitals,” explained the mayor.
Previously, the authorities recognized that vaccination in the country proceeds at a slower rate than in other places.
In total, in Russia in the last day, 9,694 new cases of covid-19 and 355 deaths from the infection were recorded.
According to the Gamaleya Center, developer of the Sputnik V vaccine, the percentage of those immunized in Russia currently stands at 10% of the population.
To date, the country accumulates more than 5,063,422 cases of covid and 121,162 deaths from the disease.
