Bobby Kotick’s company denies that the harassment and abuse controversy had anything to do with it.
Call of Duty: Vanguard has started its launch campaign in a very curious way: hiding your company logos in promotional materials. As we discussed last week, the announcement trailer for the new Call of Duty omitted both the Activision name and logo, beyond the almost illegible fine print at the end. A fact that stands out because, as many of you will know, Activision Blizzard is surrounded by controversy after uncovering numerous cases of harassment, sexual abuse and discrimination in their teams over the years.
Yes OK the reason for this omission seems obvious, that the new Call of Duty: Vanguard would have avoided showing Activision logos to distance itself from the current bad image, Bobby Kotick’s company denies that the controversy is related with that. In an official statement issued to Axios, Activision Blizzard affirms that there is no hidden intention behind the omission of their logos: it is due to a creative decision of his study, nothing more.
[Ocultar los logos] it was a creative decisionActivision“Call of Duty has continued to expand into an incredible universe of experiences,” says an Activision representative. “This [ocultar los logos] it was a creative decision that reflects how Vanguard represents the next main installment of the saga. “We don’t know how deliberately hiding the company logo in a trailer reflects that Vanguard is the next main installment of the saga, nor do we understand what is the relationship between the two things, but this is the official explanation offered by the company.
