Daniel Echavarría Oviedo, better known in the music industry as Ovy on the Drums , is one of the most important stars of the urban genre and proof of this is that he has taken over the top positions in the most important Billboard charts: #1 on Latin Songwriters and Latin Producers, #3 on Hot 100 Global Producers and #22 on Hot 100 Global Songwriters ; thus becoming the number one Latin producer worldwide for 17 consecutive weeks.
In addition, he was recently recognized by the 2022 Nuestra Tierra Awards as the best producer in the country. Reasons why Infobae Colombia spoke with the musician from Antioquia and took the opportunity to learn more about his life story, as well as his future projects.
“As a child I did my preschool and elementary school in a school in the Antioquia neighborhood, in Medellín. When I was 13 years old, I left my mother’s house to go live with my father in the San Javier neighborhood, where I grew up and spent much of my adolescence, which shaped me a lot as a person,” he recalled. blockquote>
However, these were not the only educational establishments that knew Daniel Oviedo, because due to his bad behavior and constant changes of housing, he had to rotate through various institutions.
“They also kicked me out of the San Carlos de La Salle Institute for indiscipline, it was a very good school and everything, but they didn’t want to receive me any more; So I went to study at one of the schools where I had done my primary school, which is called La Salle de Campoamor. I was very restless at that time, I was very tired and hyperactive, but despite all that I was a good student, really,” he added.
In addition, he let it be known that his dream was always to be a professional footballer, but he was never given a real chance in this sport. And although he never imagined it, music was his future.
“Something very curious, what I just remembered and that I had never told, is that I made videos for internet with my cousins in which we dressed as reggaeton players and went out attacking the singers. We edited them in Movie Maker and uploaded it to YouTube. I don’t know what they have done, but I did do that when I was a child, “explained the paisa.

In Regarding his first approaches to music, Ovy on the Drums told Infobae Colombia that everything happened more than 10 years ago, when he chose to study systems engineering, because the brother of a friend of his (whom he considers one of his angels) showed him for the first time that music could be made from a program known as FL Studio.
From At that time, and even though he had no idea how to get around on this platform, he started practicing and creating sounds without knowing what he was really doing. It was then that he decided to study musical creation at a university in Medellin, in order to perfect his technique and broaden his knowledge.
“Going there to learn music, I met other angels in my life, what are my brothers from ‘La Compañía’. I looked for their side, I got into their classes without them being mine, because they were more advanced than me, so they turned out to be an important axis because with them I got to know a studio for the first time, I met many great artists and They taught me a lot about music. After that, and with my own bases, I set up a home studio, where I worked with many artists to whom I truly thank with my life because they added a lot, including Landa Freak, Final and Shako,” said Daniel Echavarría.
< p class=”paragraph”>Later, Ovy on the Drums ‘s popularity grew when they began working hand in hand with artists such as Tinto, Andy Rivera and Gaviria.
