Garik Oganisyan, a popular stand-up comedian and screenwriter of the Evening Urgant program, discussed the topic of censorship in the show. In a conversation with blogger Sergei Mezentsev, he spoke about the restrictions on Channel One. The podcast edition is available at Youtube Mezentsev.
“Well, there is censorship, of course. But (…) this is censorship within the limits of what is available on federal channels, ”Oganisyan answered when asked whether the authors of“ Vecherniy Urgant ”faced any restrictions when creating the program.
The comedian added that he was periodically asked about the fact that he and his colleagues are prohibited from speaking on Channel One. “Well, what you don’t hear – [то] we can’t [говорить]… And the rest we joke and do as much as possible, ”Hovhannisyan explained. He added that he would not have been able to work on the evening show if he had seen himself being “gagged”.
Earlier, the presenter of Channel One Vladimir Pozner said that there is no censorship in the media in Russia.
