In 2021, the gap between victims and the national average was 5.7 points for extreme poverty

In the report on ‘Monetary poverty with a differential approach‘ published by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane), it was revealed that during < b>in 2021, the gap in the incidence rates of the population victim of the conflict and the national average was 10.8 percentage points.
In addition, the incidence of monetary poverty was reduced with respect to what the pandemic generated in 2020 with 39.3%. In 2021, the gap between victims and the national average was 5.7 points for extreme poverty.
According to the report, victims of forced displacement report slightly higher poverty rates with respect to the total people in this condition, therefore there is evidence of a relationship between the period of the victimizing act and the incidence rate of monetary poverty and extreme poverty.
Above 2019, the condition did not improve in victims of conflict, ethnic groups and the migrant population saw the difference of one indicator with respect to national figures widen.
< p class=”paragraph”> Now, in the incidence of poverty in ethnic groups, it was shown that in 2020 while poverty in the country was 42.5% and in the indigenous population it was 62%, for a difference of 19.5 percentage points. The gap last year rose 22.3 percentage points, since poverty in Colombia stood at 39.3%, and that of this group of inhabitants fell to 61.6%.
On the other hand, the report noted that the Afro-descendant population has a difference between its poverty indicator and the country’s total, which went from 4.2 percentage points in 2020 to 6.8 points.
< p class=”paragraph”>According to the Dane analysis, poverty under a gender approach according to the sex of the head of household, the indicator during 2021it was 37% for men and 42.9% for women, with a difference of 5.9 percentage points. This indicates that poverty hits households headed by women the hardest.
Similarly, in 2021 the incidence of poverty by sex of the head of household for monetary poverty extreme for men was 10.8% and for women, 14.5%, with a difference of 3.7 percentage points.
Finally, for the migrant population there was a reduction of 0.6 percentage points between 2020 and 2021 in the poverty gap with respect to the country as a whole, however, for foreigners from Venezuela it did increase, since the difference went from 23.3 percentage points to 24.1 points between 2020 and 2021, according to Dane.
It should be noted that the analysis carried out by the Foundation for the progress of the Region ( ProBogotá) of the Monetary Poverty Report in 2021 he economic recovery in Bogotá is weak compared to what is registered in other cities in the country.
For the foundation, the capital has not been able to counteract the effects of the pandemic, despite the fact that the level of poverty decreased last year, registering a decrease of 4.3 percentage points: of 10 people who entered poverty in 2020, only three left in 2021. It points out that 309,402 citizens came out of extreme poverty, which means a a reduction of 3.9 percentage points.
