The Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC) reported that a high temperature event is forecast from the afternoon of Tuesday 20 until the afternoon of Thursday 22 December, in the Insular Sur and Pampa Patagonica Norte and Sur sectors, in the Magallanes region.
This Monday a preventive early alert was declared for the Magallanes region due to high temperatures.
According to the information provided by the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC), through its Meteorological Notice A448/2022, this event is forecast from the afternoon of Tuesday 20 to the afternoon of Thursday 22 December, in the Insular Sur and Pampa sectors. North and South Patagonia.

In consideration of this background, which implies an increase in the risk associated with this meteorological variable, the Onemi Magallanes Regional Directorate declared a Regional Preventive Early Alert for high temperatures, effective as of today and until conditions warrant it.
The declaration of this alert constitutes a state of reinforcement of vigilance, through the precise and rigorous monitoring of risk conditions and the respective vulnerabilities associated with the threat, coordinating and activating the National System of Prevention and Response to Disasters (SINAPRED), in order to act promptly in case of emergency situations.
Onemi recommends that the population avoid being exposed to the sun during the central hours of the day (11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). 00 hrs maximum ultraviolet radiation); and monitor the body temperature and condition of children and the elderly, since these groups tend to dehydrate easily.
