Russia anticipates eliminate the age limit to enter the army, according to the agenda of the Duma – the lower house of the Russian Parliament – on Wednesday, in full offensive against Ukraine.
“The objective of the The bill is to eliminate the age limit for citizens who are of working age […] to which they have the right to close the first military service contract”, indicates the note in the The bill is explained.
According to the note, only citizens between the ages of 18 and 40 are currently authorizedto sign a first contract with the army. Foreign citizens can do it from 18 to 30 years old.
However, “for the use of high-precision weapons, the operation of weapons and military equipment, highly professional specialists are “necessary”, that is, older.
The law could help “attract specialists in popular areas, especially those related to civilians. (medical support, engineering, maintenance, exploitation, communications, etc.) for military service under contract”, indicates the document.
The Russian army is in full offensive in Ukraine, but this assault has been met by Ukrainian resistance.
Russia launched in April the spring call 2022, in order to send 134,500 young people to the barracks. The authorities assure, however, that the recruits will not be sent to the front.
