Units 1 and 2 of the Itabo electricity, which contributes 238 megawatts (MW) of firm power to the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), is currently suffering the seasonal impact of sargassum, which is present on the country’s coasts every year.
In a note sent to the media, the company states that this situation has forced it to reduce operations to manage the large influxes of sargassum in its water intake system.
In this sense, unit 1 of the Itabo Electricity Generating Company has remained temporarily unavailable, while the cleaning process is carried out as a preventive measure. to avoid new shots.
From May 13 to 16, the technical team has withdrawn 26.24 tons and although a greater arrival of sargassum is expected, Itabo management expressed that it would be safer. We are actively working on recovering the generation levels of this important unit of the system.
