Attention, the following article contains (slight) spoilers about the season 1 of the series Snowpiercer released by Netflix. If you are not up to date, we advise you to start by looking at the trailer.

With Snowpiercer, Netflix has addressed any cultural. A work XXL on the side of the comic (Le Transperceneige) adapted by Bong Joon-ho, 2013, in a film, in part, successful, but who had left a part of the public on his hunger. At mid-season, Presse-Citron, it was felt that the series was already better than the movie, at least for some aspects. After watching the last episode, what is it ?

Snowpiercer, promises to be a season 2

Visually, the series Snowpiercer will be revealed very largely bluffing. The outdoor scenes alternate majesty and point of view startling. Inside the train, the feeling of huis-clos standing, this tension, generated simply by the space that is still missing is perfectly felt.

On the side of the casting, one always appreciates the very good performance of the two main actors, Daveed Diggs (Andre Layton) and Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) that are engaged throughout a story, mano-to-mano, which one can guess already the outcome, but that manages to surprise us by its twists and turns.

If the scenario had us excited in the first few episodes, the strengths that we imagined, and in particular the schism between first class and the others seem in the end to have been under-exploited. There was a way to do better and go further, it was this that allowed the format of the series.

Finally, even if we felt it coming, the outcome of this season, it may seem intriguing and even exciting at first, ultimately proves sadly agreed. No, Snowpiercer will not have managed to separate themselves completely from the myth of Wilford. Remains to hope that the season 2 really builds on the strengths to give us the desire to continue the journey…
