The electoral campaign for the municipal elections of Rome is about to get underway and the contenders do not spare themselves low blows. “You haven’t seen anything yet”, the staff of the two main candidates, Roberto Gualtieri and Enrico Michetti explain half-mouthed. Then today the Democratic Party went down heavily using the Durigon affair against the center-right candidate for mayor.
“Everyone is talking about it and expressing their opinion, except one: Michetti, Salvini and Meloni’s candidate for mayor of Rome”, the dem note, underlining that “Durigon is a big deal for the Northern League of Lazio and the capital”. And then they continue from the Democratic Party, “it is legitimate to ask Michetti if he thinks it is right to change the name of the Latina park and name it after the brother of the Duce”. “Can you express your opinion or should you ask permission from your sponsors who are fans of the Mussolini family? The Romans must know, Michetti does not run away, as he is doing from every debate. Let your voice be heard on your own, if you can. Michetti, if you are there, knock a beat ”.
So the dem, who all day are going on with the barrage. In the Democratic Party they have understood that the Durigon affair can represent an Achilles heel also for the center-right in Rome, as well as for the Northern League captain Matteo Salvini at national level.
But the news destined to make even more noise is another: from the parts of the center-right (especially in the Northern League area) they would be thinking of offering a place in addition to the former mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno. “We must begin to stir up an electoral campaign that is still struggling to take off,” explain center-right circles. And what could be the best name if not that of Gianni Alemanno, recently acquitted in the Supreme Court of the well-known legal proceedings? The former mayor of Rome said: “There is no longer that mud that was thrown at me. A nightmare that lasted seven years ends ”. And now for him we return to talking about politics.
