Students at two Alexandria City High School campuses were forced to switch to distance learning Thursday after an anonymous threat put both campuses on lockdown.
“For the safety and security of our students and staff, the Alexandria City High School King Street and Minnie Howard campus are currently in lockdown and today, October 14, 2021, will be an asynchronous day,” Alexandria City Public Schools Online posted.

Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The school system tweeted Both campuses have resumed normal operation.
The school system said it received an anonymous threat Wednesday night from the Alexandria Police Department.
“D is currently conducting a threat assessment to determine reliability,” ACPS said, and more details will be on after the assessment is completed.
Police said the students were never in danger.
It comes a week after a student was found with Wein on the school grounds and locked in the same high school.
Separately, Alexandria police were called to the Francis C. Crews on Seminary Road around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. He said he received a call about a shooting at Hammond Middle School. The school has been temporarily locked down. After the search, police determined the call was unfounded. The student, who was suffering from a medical incident, was taken to the hospital while officers searched.
Alexandria City Council recently voted to temporarily reinstate school resource officers.
