After the regional landfill was temporarily closed de Los Ríos, Valdivia launched a contingency plan to manage the city’s garbage.
With collection points in some communes and garbage management, the contingency plan for the municipalities began after the closure of the regional landfill, at risk from forest fire.
The closure of the Morrumpulli landfill is preventive until conditions permit, after the incident that affected rural sectors of Valdivia, Paillaco and the vicinity of Corral.
The president of the Association of Municipalities of the Los Rivers for Sustainable Waste Management and Environmental Management, Mayor Carla Amtmann, called on the community to have a gradual and responsible management of waste.

The treasurer of the Association, the mayor of Los Lagos, Aldo Retamal, said that in his commune as in others there are collection points, reinforcing, on the other hand, the call to residents to manage waste.
From the agency, it was indicated that during these days they will be reporting on the removal of garbage, which they recognize is a sensitive issue faced with the contingency of this great forest fire, which causes the preventive closure of the Morrumpulli de Valdivia regional landfill.
