The Attorney General’s Office issued this Saturday a series of recommendations for citizens who serve as voting jurors during the presidential election day that will take place throughout the national territory starting at 8:00 a.m. m. this Sunday, May 29.
Through circular 006 of 2022, the Public Ministry shared ten recommendations for the citizens who were chosen by the National Registry of Civil Status to accompany the voting tables for the first presidential round in relation to the fulfillment of the public functions that they must fulfill during the elections and that will be supervised by the National Electoral Control Commission (CNCE).
“The CNCE will exercise surveillance over those who carry out the public functions of the voting jury during the processes elections, and warned that such designation is of forced acceptance and, consequently, it must compulsorily attend to provide the service”, indicates the circular issued by the control body with which it seeks to notify citizens who fulfill this role of their obligations during the day in which the next president or the candidates who go to the second round will be defined.
Likewise, he warned that the sanction for non-attendance or abandonment of functions by the voting jurors, in case of being public servants, will represent a respective disciplinary sanction, and if they do not hold public office, they must stop the pecuniary sanctions that are imposed by the electoral authorities, with the purpose of complying with this democratic obligation.
In the same way, he emphasized that the voting juries, as well as the members of the and other authorities, it is up to them to guarantee the free exercise of the vote and prevent transparency from being violated during the electoral process and from incurring in any electoral crime, with which he invited them to carry out their work with all the commitment to reinforce the legitimacy of the process.
TheThe ten recommendations that the Attorney General’s Office presented to the jury were:
1. Attend and participate in the training sessions provided by the Registry.
2. The functions may alternate with each other, but in any case, they must remain at the polling stations throughout the entire election day.
3. Jurors designated as “remaining” must attend on time and may only withdraw when the Registrar’s delegate indicates so.
4. Abide by the instructions and protocols provided by the electoral authority.
5. They are responsible for properly filling out the electoral documents and taking the appropriate measures to prevent fraud.
6. Comply with the procedure consisting of verifying the identity of the voter, registering him, delivering the electoral card, and allowing voting.
7. Deliver the electoral certificate, only to those who cast their vote in the ballot box.
8. Guarantee the destruction of surplus material and, at the end of the day, deliver the electoral documents to the Registrar’s delegate.
9. Take photographs of the E-14 form as evidence of compliance with their functions.
10. Vote at the table where they exercise their transitory public function and refrain from doing so doubly.
