It will not be one more definition in the history of the NBA . After the cancellation last March of the season due to the advance of the coronavirus pandemic in the United States, one of the most important leagues in the world of sports once again demonstrated its capacity and organized a bubble in Orlando that allowed it to resume the competition and reach the end of the campaign with a high level of play.
From tonight, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers will be the protagonists of a final unprecedented in history . For the first time, two teams that had not made the playoffs the previous season will be looking to win the Larry O’Brien trophy. On one side will be the team of Jimmy Butler , figure of the champion of the Eastern Conference. On the other, none other than LeBron James , the man who moved to one of the iconic NBA franchises to restore sporting success after a decade of frustrations.
With a record of 44 wins and 29 defeats, Miami finished in fifth place in the East and became the only team in the history of the competition since the current competition format exists – it began in the 1983/84 season – to reach the definition of the NBA after finishing in that position in the regular phase.

In the playoffs, the team led by Erik Spoelstra first swept the Indiana Pacers (4-0) in the opening series, then eliminated Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks (4-1) and in the conference finals they beat Boston Celtics (4-2). Thanks to a solid game, with high points like Butler himself, Bam Adebayo , Slovenian point guard Goran Dragic and with young fantasy Tyler Herro coming off the substitute bench, the Heat know they will be looking for the fourth NBA championship in their history.
The Lakers are the big favorites to win the title number 17 in their history, the same amount that their archrival, the Celtics has. Hand in hand with a superlative LeBron, who was the most influential player of the entire NBA season, plus the value that the Los Angeles franchise added with the arrival of the giant Antonhy Davis , Frank Vogel’s team will seek to conclude a special mandate that it pursues the team: win and dedicate the victory to the memory of the late Kobe Bryant. After being the best in the West (52-19), they beat the Portland Trail Blazers, the Houston Rockets in the postseason and in the conference final, they beat the Denver Nuggets, all 4-1.
Davis’ case will be one of care for Miami . The number 3 of Los Angeles was nourished by everything that James gave him and in these playoffs he raised his performance on the court. So much so that he reaches the finals with an average of 29.6 points in his postseason participation, a record that only two other players reached a higher score with a minimum of 25 games: Michael Jordan (33.4) and Allen Iverson (29.7).

Heat vs. Lakers to the best of seven games . Whoever manages to triumph four times will touch the sky with their hands in the best league in the world of basketball. The long awaited day arrived. The day that the great definition of the NBA begins. Two great teams will seek to celebrate at Disney and go down in history as the Orlando bubble champions.
