The counting of votes for the presidential elections in Colombia has ended, which left the candidates Gustavo Petro and < b>Rodolfo Hernández, there are several surprises left by the count in different departments, especially for Federico Gutiérrez, who according to the vast majority of polls was going to go to the second round.< /p>

The representative of the Anti-Corruption Governors League, for example, led the vote in 13 of the 32 departments that make up the national territory: Arauca (46.56%), Boyacá (63.09%), Caldas (58.52%), Caquetá (46.55%), Casanare (65.02%), Cundinamarca (65.95%), Guaviare (48.46%), Huila (57.33%), Meta (62.38%), Norte de Santander (52.90%), Santander (66.14%), Tolima (55.98%) and Vichada (which he claimed to be unaware of) with 30.99%

These results are a blow for the surveys of the National Consulting Center, Ecoanalítica, YanHaas, Guarumo and Invamer, since in none of these did Hernández exceed 20.9% of voting intentions and, at the moment of truth, < b>in the first round he obtained more than 28% of the votes.

On the side of Federico Gutiérrez, candidate of the Team for Colombia, the predictions of the consultants were not correct either, taking into account that in the vast majority he was ranked as the second favorite of the Colombians, behind Gustavo Petro.

In fact, according to ‘The great national survey’ carried out by YanHaas in March and May 2022 for various media outlets (RCN Radio, RCN Noticias, La FM, El País, NTN24, El Universal, El Colombiano, Vanguardia, El Heraldo, La Patria and La República), the former mayor of Medellín was supposed to win in the Eje Cafetero region with 38%, but that was not the case.

In contrast, Gustavo Petro led the vote in Risaralda and Quindío with 56.40 and 56.52%, respectively; and Rodolfo Hernández took 46.56% of the votes in Arauca.

Although in the Caribbean region, this survey gave as leaders at all times the representative of the Historical Pact and his opponent from the Team for Colombia, Rodolfo Hernández managed to prevail as the second most voted candidate in the department of Cesar, where led in the following municipalities: Aguachica (58.53%), Gamarra (51.05%), González (49.68%), La Gloria (52.81%), La Paz (45.59%), Pailitas (50.40%), Pelaya (51.04%), Río de Oro (52.38%), San Alberto (52.38%) and San Martín (63.38%).

What ‘The great national survey’ did hit was the victory of the former mayor of Bucaramanga in the Central East region, since in the results of May he reached 32%, being the one with the best option, which was confirmed in the recent elections with their victory in Cundinamarca (65.95%), Boyacá (63.09%), Norte de Santander (52.90%) and Santander (66.14%).

Similarly, this poll said at the time that Gutiérrez would be the great winner in Antioquia, and so he was, although this did not help him at all because his defeat in the rest of the country was imminent.

Departments where Gustavo Petro won

Amazonas (43.21%), Atlántico (43.69%), Bogotá (63.95%), Bolívar (42.88%), Cauca (55.28%), Cesar (50.35%), Chocó (40.99%), Córdoba (46.90%), Guainía (33.01%), La Guajira (32.56%), Magdalena (45.18%), Nariño (52.77%), Putumayo (51%), Quindío ( 56.52%), Risaralda (56.40%), San Andrés (29.02%), Sucre (50.23%), Valle (54.15%) and Vaupés (30.10%).
