State Duma deputy Yevgeny Fedorov proposed to extend the New Year holidays for working pensioners. The parliamentarian sent the corresponding letter to the head of the Ministry of Labor Anton Kotyakov.
“In order to support this category of citizens, I ask you to consider the possibility of extending the period of the upcoming New Year holidays for pensioners continuing to work from December 27, 2021 to January 9, 2022, by giving them four additional days off,” the letter says, part of which 26 August publishes RT…
In his address, Fedorov also noted that the spread of the coronavirus continues throughout 2021, and that COVID-19 poses a particular danger to the elderly.
The deputy of the State Duma indicated that working pensioners use public transport every day, are in the work collective and continue to perform their labor duties, adds “Gazeta.ru”…

Earlier, on June 4, the head of the Accounts Chamber of Russia, Alexei Kudrin, in a conversation with Izvestia, expressed the opinion that the number of holidays in the country should be reduced. According to Kudrin, in terms of a country’s GDP, the more working days in a month or a year, the greater the GDP.
At the same time, Kotyakov said that in 2021 December 31 falls on Saturday and will be a day off, so the Russians are waiting for nine days of New Year’s holidays. He later noted that the department would consider the possibility of making the last day of the year a permanent day off.
