According to the National Commission to Prevent and Eradicate Violence against Women in Mexico, headed by Fabiola Alanís Sámano, so far in 2022 there has been an increase in cases of rape, as well as human trafficking in that country. As of March, this last crime grew by 47% with respect to figures from the previous year, and within those negative numbers we must add the case of a Colombian woman who was delivered to a prostitution ring.
The cause: a relative, her own cousin. It all happened at the beginning of 2021, when the pimp promised the victim to fulfill her dream of living and working abroad legally. Indeed, the young woman traveled to Mexico thinking that she would get to work in a clothing store, but she did not get to know the country when several individuals deprived her of her passport.
Once arrived at the airport of her destination, the ordeal began for the young Colombian, as she was held captive by a network of sexual exploiters for several months, maintaining relationships with up to 10 men per day. The Prosecutor’s Office, at the hearing against the possible pimp, reported that when the young woman arrived at the place she realized that it was not a clothing store, but a brothel.
The Prosecutor’s Office began to investigate the case, and within the evidence shown at the hearing against the victimizer, it stated that the young woman’s days began at 8 in the morning and ended at 10 at night. She had no other way out, because her own cousin forced her to have sexual relations that, sometimes, were up to 12 times a day.

The Risaralda Sectional Prosecutor’s Office took up the case; in fact, a special group with a gender focus was assigned, which began to collect all the evidentiary material presented in the judicial proceeding. The victimizer was captured at the ElDorado Airport in Bogotá when she was arriving, precisely, from Mexico.
In the diligence, the crimes of trafficking in persons, induction and constraining to prostitution were charged. On the other hand, the young woman subjected to violence will receive multidisciplinary support, including psychological treatment.
It is worth mentioning that at the hearing where the charges were brought against her, the young woman responsible for the events (of 21 years old) did not accept them and pleaded not guilty before the accusatory body.
These crimes carry an approximate sentence of between 10 and 23 years in prison.
