In the last few hours it was learned that the 22nd Criminal Judge of the Circuit with the Function of Knowledge of Bogotá sentenced Miguel Camilo Parra Niño for having attacked his ex-partner with an ax on October 16, 2020.
After the evidence presented, the judge found him guilty of the crime of attempted femicide aggravated by the injuries caused to Ángela Ferro’s neck, face and other body parts.
The judge’s decision was achieved thanks to the film evidence together with the testimonies with which a prosecutor from the Bogotá Section showed how Parra intended to murder his ex-partner.
According to the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office, Parra’s attack occurred after his ex-partner ended their relationship, motivated by the multiple episodes of physical violence and the constant threats that Ferro endured during the eight months of living with his aggressor.
During the trial, the Prosecutor’s Office pointed out that the aggressor acted aware of what he was doing, to the point that on the day of the attack he called his mother and an aunt to see the victim, to later escape with the axe.
Parra, in his attempt to evade the authorities, changed his physical appearance and hid in Fusagasugá (Cundinamarca), where he was captured on October 27, 2020.
Given the strength of the evidence, the judge ordered his immediate capture, which the CTI investigators of the Prosecutor’s Office made effective in the courtroom where the proceeding was taking place.
This was the attack
The facts became known after Óscar Salazar, a friend of the victim, published photos on his Facebook account that incriminated Miguel Parra as the alleged Angela Ferro’s aggressor.
In an interview with Infobae, Salazar commented on some details, including that before the attack, Ferro had already told him that he wanted to separate from Parra because he was taking violent attitudes that generated a lot of mistrust and fear in him.
In the early hours of Saturday, October 17, 2020, Oscar Salazar received two calls from his friend Ángela’s cell phone, when he answered he received news that hit him like a bucket of cold water.
“At around 2:45 in the morning I receive a call and while I was asleep I hung up, they came back and called me at 2:50 in the morning and I hung up again, but at 3:03 in the morning I answered and saw that Angela said, I answered, it was the voice of a man, it was the voice of Angela’s son who answers me attacked crying and tells me: ‘Oscar please save me, save my mother, Miguel hit him with an ax to the head to my mom‘”, recalls the victim’s friend through tears.
Oscar says that he woke up his partner, they got ready and quickly went to Angela’s house and Michael. He says that he arrived at 3:45 in the morning and when he was at the scene he found something that did not seem conventional to him.
“When I entered the house of Ángela, I entered with my partner and at that moment Angela’s father and Angela’s father’s partner are entering, we enter and the first thing we find is Miguel’s mother and sister sitting on a chair in the house with two or three policemen. There I saw the scene, the photos that I uploaded are from when I saw that whole house full of blood, it didn’t fit in my head”, Salazar told Infobae.
