Carabineros managed to intercept and seize a truck that was carrying more of a ton of illegal hake in La Araucanía.
A truck carrying more than a ton of southern hake, currently overexploited, was intercepted and seized strong>in La Araucanía.
The above occurred during an inspection by police and inspectors of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service
It was an interregional inspection between officials of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service of the regions of Araucanía and Valparaíso, with the support of Carabineros.

In the instance, a truck was detected carrying 1,125 kilos of southern hake, whose origin could not be proven.
The regional director of SERNAPESCA Araucanía , Sergio Flores, highlighted the importance of finding this shipment of illegal origin that went from Calbuco and was destined for Concepción.
Since it is a resource that is in a state of overexploitation, the prosecutor on duty of the First Proceedings Prosecutor’s Office ordered SERNAPESCA to seize the resource and the truck, but it also determined the detention of the driver by the Carabineros.
