Tenth place for Sebastian Vettel in the Silverstone qualifying, which took place on Friday and not Saturday due to the new format of the Sprint Qualification. The German therefore closed the top-10, with an Aston Martin that did not seem to have the pace to aspire to the fifth row. Bravo the former Ferrari driver to find a great lap at the end of Q2, but in the last 12 minutes it could have been done better, considering that George Russell even snatched eighth place with Williams. Bad, however, Lance Stroll: the Canadian, already struggling to enter Q2, finished 15th. These are their words at the end of the Silverstone qualifying.
2021 British GP Sprint Qualification: the starting grid
Sebastian Vettel (P10, 1: 27.179): “I would have liked to have finished Q3 higher because the car felt competitive and the pace came out quite easily today. Overall, it was a good session: I was happy with my best lap in Q2, but in Q3 I struggled to find more performance from my car. I think we could have qualified a few places higher. Anyway it was nice to see the big crowd here today and I think the new format made Friday more interesting for the fans“.

Lance Stroll (P15, 1: 27.665): “The 15th square it wasn’t the way we wanted to start our home event, but there is a chance to improve tomorrow thanks to the Sprint Qualification. I wasn’t totally comfortable in the car during practice, but I think we made some progress in qualifying, even if it wasn’t enough to make Q3. It was a challenge to have just one practice session today before qualifying, but it was the same for everyone. Let’s get away from the circuit by learning a lesson from today. we try to make the most of the second free practice session in view of the Sprint qualifying“.
