Many professional high schools will remain closed this Thursday. The vast majority unions of teachers in these establishments are indeed organizing a new day of strike and demonstrations in several cities to demand the withdrawal of a reform project wanted by Emmanuel Macron.

A campaign promise from Emmanuel Macron
In a rare inter-union alliance, they denounce this reform of the professional path, launched by the Head of State as soon as his presidential campaign, and in particular the planned increase in the duration of internships by at least 50% which would reduce general education hours.

Four working groups gathered until the Christmas holidays
For the past month, the Minister Delegate in charge of Vocational Education and Training, Carole Grandjean, has launched “four working groups” on this reform involving union representatives, regions, parents of students, establishments, companies or communities. They must meet until the Christmas holidays, before conclusions at the end of February and a second phase of construction of the reform afterwards.
But from the first meeting, despite a desire to appease the ministry, the main unions, Snetaa-FO, CGT and Snuep-FSU (which represent nearly 70% of teaching staff), did not wish to take part, denouncing “a reform imposed in an authoritarian and top-down fashion” “Facing the strong opposition of the personnel, the minister, in spite of few tiny concessions, does not actually give up; to his project. She persists in want to impose more internships on students”, regrets the inter-union.
The unions also say “refuse the reduction in hours of general and professional education and the resulting job cuts, the loss of the national framework of timetables and a revision of training cards solely through the prism of the particular economic interests of companies in the sectors of activity. in labor shortage.
