Vuelta 2021, 19th stage: Magnus sets the trio

Magnus Cort Nielsen (EF Education Nippo) won the nineteenth stage of the 76th Vuelta Espana da Tapia to Monforte de Lemos. At the end of 191 hilly kilometers, whose difficulties were all concentrated at the start of the race, the Dane tripled his successes in this edition of the Iberian race, after those of Alto de Cullera and Cordoba, preceding the Portuguese Rui Oliveira (UAE Emirates) and the American Quinn Simmons (Trek Segafredo), 2019 junior world champion at Harrogate. These three riders were included in a sextet that also included the Italian Andrea Gagioli (Deceuninck Quick Step), the French Anthony Roux (Groupama FDJ) and the Belgian Andreas Kroon (Lotto Soudal), who arrived in order at the finish line. These six were all that remained of the attack of the day that went away in departure.

The general classification crystallized with the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma) who commands the duo Team Movistar formed by Enric Mas and Miguel Angel Lopez, respectively 2’30 “and 2’53”. Tomorrow the penultimate act of the Vuelta 2021 will be staged. It will run from Sanxenxo Mos to Castro de Herville along 203 kilometers, the last half of which will include no less than five GPMs. However, it is difficult for this to generate belligerence among the men of the classification.
