Like Sony, which recently unveiled the design of the PlayStation 5, Microsoft is also moving to launch its next generation console : the Xbox Series X. But at the same time, the firm of Redmond is still in the process of developing its platform for cloud gaming xCloud.
In an article published this week, the website The Verge indicates that the introduction of xCloud is still planned for this year. And in a first time, this platform cloud gaming would be powered by the equivalent of Xbox consoles One S, on the server side. However, the source of the site would also have explained that an update is already planned for 2021. And after this update, the servers xCloud will use material that matches the Xbox Series X, which would allow the platform cloud gaming to benefit from significant performance gains. The CPU would be considerably more powerful, and would run four sessions of games xBox One S at the same time. In addition, Microsoft would consider using a new video encoder, which would be six times faster than the encoder that is currently being used by xCloud. And in most of the games for the xBox, Microsoft would also offer games for the PC via its platform, xCloud. Experiments with blades for PC games would have already take place.

Microsoft is about to launch its competitor Stadia
Of course, for the moment, these information are not official, and therefore, it is important to consider them with a certain reserve. But in any case, it is to be remembered that the cloud gaming is now as important as the consoles physical for Microsoft. Besides, the firm of Redmond considers that its main competitors in the video game is no longer Sony and Nintendo, but Google and Amazon, which have the necessary infrastructure to the cloud gaming.
Google has already launched its cloud gaming service Stadia in 2019. And little by little, the platform improves by increasing the number of games on the catalogue, and becoming accessible on more devices. Amazon is also interested in the video game. And given that the giant of e-commerce is present on various markets, such as streaming music or streaming video, it would not be surprising that it wants also his share in the cloud gaming.
