The movement of “ yellow vests” is four years old. For the occasion, several hundred people, 680 according to the police headquarters, marched. in the streets of Paris on Saturday afternoon.
Leaving around 2:30 p.m. from Place de la Bourse, in the 2nd arrondissement, the demonstrators, including Jérôme Rodrigues, a historical figure of the movement who had been blinded during a demonstration in January 2019, reached Place Anne-Marie Carrière, in the Montmartre district (18th century), about three hours later, under heavy escort from the police.

Among the few placards, one proclaimed “a state of climatic and social emergency”, while the demonstrators chanted their favorite song: “we are here, even if Macron doesn’t want it, we’re here.” The course was enamelled by some clashes during which the police used their batons, according to videos posted by the demonstrators on social networks. The movement of “yellow vests” to the fall of 2018 against Emmanuel Macron’s policy and against the high cost of living, has not been very active in recent months. A year ago, the Parisian demonstration marking their third anniversary brought together 1,800 people, according to the police.
