Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the head of the department, Sergei Lavrov, did not meet with representatives of the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) during their current visit to Moscow. So she commented in her Telegram-channel photos published on social networks.
“How long can our“ liberal ”and anonymous people lie that“ Lavrov is holding talks with the Taliban in Moscow ”? Why not with hackers? Why not on Mars? Effectively, ”Zakharova wrote.
According to her, the spread photo, which captures Lavrov and representatives of the Taliban, dates back to 2019. The representative of the Foreign Ministry clarified that the picture was taken at a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Afghanistan.
“Now I have met with the delegation that has arrived in Moscow [посол России в Афганистане] Zamir Kabulov. The inter-Afghan dialogue is a guarantee of stability in the region. It was about him that was discussed during the meeting, ”concluded Zakharova.

On July 8, a Taliban delegation arrived in Moscow for talks. The visit of representatives of the movement to the Russian capital will last two days.
