Another 200 kilometers to go and they are back home in their reserve in Xishuangbanna in the extreme south of China. Social media made the herd of Asian wild elephants world famous on their 1,700-kilometer journey through Chinese towns and cities. The Chinese state media also followed every step of the drifting animals. On their route, 150,000 people were temporarily evacuated by 25,000 police officers, who managed the journey.
