The Bancentral Volunteers (VB), social arm of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD), made their fifteenth day of reforestation in the Ozama river basin, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources. on this occasion to the Mijo dam, located in La Luisa, Monte Plata, where there was land provided and prepared by the ministry.
During this day, 1,800 cabirma trees were planted, penda and cedar, thus bestowing Greater plant biodiversity in the area, allowing -given the properties of these species- better maintenance of soil moisture, and creating an environment conducive to the expansion of native fauna and flora.
Activity counted. with the participation of 57 volunteers, distributed among civil servants, employees, pensioners of the BCRD and family members, as well as their families. as support staff.
In attendance were representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, Fausto Encarnación, reforestation coordinator; and Osiris Gamalier, forestry technician and reforestation manager in the province of Monte Plata.
