Before President Boric’s imminent trip to La Araucanía, Governor Luciano Rivas called on him to support the work of the police and the Armed Forces. For their part, parliamentarians asked him to stay “for several days” and to make specific announcements regarding security.
Various actors from La Araucanía summoned President Boric to make specific announcements and support the work of the police during their visit to the area.
According to La Moneda sources, the trip should take place next week. However, there is still no official statement from the Government.
The regional governor of La Araucanía, Luciano Rivas, indicated that Boric should be “the President in charge that we need and support the work of the Carabineros, the Armed Forces and the PDI”.
For his part, the deputy from Amarillos for Chile , Andrés Jouannet, called him to “be there for a long time. He has been to the north and abroad several times, to the United States twice”.
“La Araucanía is the poorest region crossed by violence, we have high hopes for this trip”, the congressman added.
Boric’s trip: deputy says he does not have “greater expectations”
The deputy of the UDI, Henry Leal, says that he does not have high expectations, but that he is waiting for concrete announcements on security matters.
“That he announce legislative urgency to the usurpation law of presidios, which is very important for the region”, he detailed.
It should be remembered that the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá , visited the area in early October. On that trip, she met with local authorities, including the regional governor.
