This Saturday (3), at 7:30 am (Brasilia time), the Brazilian men’s basketball team has a decisive game in the Pre-Olympic, in Split (Croatia). The country faces Mexico in the semifinal of the tournament, which only guarantees the champion a place in the Tokyo Games (Japan). If they win, the Brazilian team will decide the final at 2:30 pm on Sunday (4), against Croatia or Germany, who will make the other semifinal this Saturday (3), at 1:00 pm.

The men’s team wants to take the last chance to guarantee themselves in the Games and follow the tradition of the Olympics: Brazilian basketball was only left out of the Montreal (Canada) Games in 1976 – both the women’s and men’s teams. Since then, the modality has won three bronze medals (London/1948, Rome/1960 and Tokyo/1964) in the men’s competition; and a silver (Atlanta/1996) and a bronze (Sydney/2000) in the female. In the Tokyo edition, the country will not have the performance of the women’s team.
