The former general manager of Sledgehammer Games, Glen Schofield, he said consumers don’t appreciate how much work they should take to make the headlines call of Duty.
Schofield co-directed several chapters of the long series during his time in Activision, including Modern Warfare 3, Advanced Warfare is WWII.
And in the latest issue of Edge, he said the perception that studios are preparing new Call of Duty with little work is definitely wrong.

“I studied World War II for three years. I have worked with historians. I spent eight days in a van in Europe going to all the places that would be in the game. I shot several old guns. All of these things are needed when working on a Call of Duty game“.
Sledgehammer’s research process for Advanced Warfare was just as intense, Schofield said.
“We worked with Navy SEALS and Delta Force people to learn [le] tactics and techniques to be put into play. You had to know the special forces of different countries like England, France, Spain and Italy and everything in between, because they were all in the game. So there was so much to learn, to read, to watch“.
Edge covers Schofield’s 30-year career in the industry, including his first game, 1992 Game Boy platformer Barbie: Game Girl, Dead Space, and his current project, a survival horror set in the PUBG universe called The Callisto Protocol, the debut title of Striking Distance.
Schofield also discussed competition between Call of Duty studios, Sledgehammer, Infinity Ward is Treyarch.
“Was there internal competition? Without a doubt, without a doubt, “he said.” It’s weird, because you really cheered on every studio because you needed and wanted every Call of Duty to do well. But everyone wanted to get a higher score. You wanted to get more sales. So yeah, we pushed each other, really“.
“We were a kind of Call of Duty fraternity. There was quiet competition going on, but it helped to advance the next game as much as possible“.
According to rumors, this year’s game will be called Call of Duty: Vanguard and is currently on track for launch in November.
Vanguard is expected to feature a campaign, multiplayer and Zombie modes set in European and Pacific theaters during World War II, with its storyline focusing on the birth of modern Allied Special Forces.
Vanguard is also expected to tie heavily to Call of Duty Warzone, including a new World War II themed map.
