Thousands of years ago people used aromatic products, not only for pleasant odors, but also for therapeutic practice. This, according to the portal Med-heal.ru indicate many archaeological discoveries. But aromatic means, as the researchers note, may carry certain health threats.

Scientists from the UK believe that the healing properties of many aromascents can be, to put it mildly, exaggerated. “The British spend about 126 million pounds a year on different kinds of aromatic products, but we believe that many of those funds can be attributed solely to the placebo effect. That’s how the human mind is that it seems to us that pleasant aromas benefit the body. But in reality this is not always so”, say the researchers.
That aromatic products could be harmful, say scientists from Taiwan, who in 2007 conducted an experience with the burning oils of lavender, tea tree and eucalyptus, which showed that in the air as a result of potentially dangerous chemical compounds. “Volatile organic compounds from essential oils are mixed with substances in the air and form secondary aerosols that can irritate mucous membranes and cause headaches and more serious problems — for example, kidney and liver, hallucinations, and nervous exhaustion” — noted the staff of the University of pharmacy and science Chia-Nan, adding that the threat may be oil-based lemon and mint.
