The Mediterranean diet is especially beneficial for brain health because of high content of fish and olive oil. This is the conclusion, reached by researchers from Spain and the United States of America, which summarized the results of years of scientific work.

Scientists for ten years I watched people who had different diets, and received a large amount of data on the effects of different foods on brain health. Data analysis showed that the best products for preserving the mental body in a healthy way — olive oil and fish. That is, most useful for the brain were key components of the Mediterranean diet.
“The Mediterranean diet is especially useful for people who have a genetic predisposition to neurodegenerative diseases. In particular, we are talking about Alzheimer’s disease. Our study showed that fish and olive oil in this diet allow you to keep brain health, regardless of predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease”, noted the study authors, noting that the major beneficial for the brain components of the Mediterranean diet reduce risk of Alzheimer’s disease in predisposed individuals to it by about 20 percent.
