COUP DE NET Local elected officials are among those arrested

The judicial police carried out this week a big sweep all over France with the arrests of 48 men suspected of having downloaded; and consulted massively pornographic photos and videos featuring children, AFP learned on Wednesday from a source familiar with the matter.
The operation, coordinated by the Central Office for the repression of violence against persons (OCRVP), mobilized several judicial police services in mainland France since Monday, explained; this source, confirming information from France Info.

Local elected officials arrested
Among those placed in custody at view, the youngest is 26 years old, the oldest is 79 years old. “He’s Mr. Everybody, there is no typical profile, unemployed, retired, working people,” according to the source. Local elected officials are also among those arrested.
For the time being, these men are suspected of consuming “illegal content from minors” ; but the guards view, conducted under the authority of several prosecutors, will have to determine if they have committed “more serious things”, such as sexual assault or rape.
