It was 1988 when Citroen presented the new one Activa concept car. The setting that hosted the car’s debut was the Paris Motor Show, where the French car manufacturer put on display what is called “the hydropneumatic manifesto”. A sector that Citroen had already explored in previous years, since far away 1954 with the Traction 15Six H followed over time by the prestigious DS, SM and CX. In short, an extremely ambitious concept car that had the aim of showcasing all the qualities of the brand.

Specifically Citroen Activa was equipped with three “computing centers”: one that took care of the suspension, one of the steering and one of the on-board well-being and automatic systems. The result was a perfect connection between all three of these units, therefore able to communicate with each other and to set the car in the best possible way with respect to the road conditions and the maneuvers that the driver must perform. It is no coincidence that one of the greatest advantages heralded by the French car manufacturer concerns agility in maneuvers of parking, great safety when driving at high speed, especially when all four wheels contribute to the change of trajectory.
In fact, each wheel is combined with a hydraulic motor, which determines the steering angle, without counting the intervention of the electronics capable of detecting the position of the wheel and correcting it every five hundredths of a second. The concept car was driven by a V6 24-valve PRV petrol engine, capable of unleashing 200 hp of maximum power. On a technological level, the scene was dominated by a large display located on the dashboard, which showed the driver the main information related to the vehicle.
